The Exhibition
Ever Gold [Projects] is pleased to present a group exhibition curated by Andrew McClintock focused on the aura of attitudes which hold no form, explored through the works of twelve American artists working in painting, sculpture, and photography.
In 1969 Harald Szeemann argued that attitudes become form. This exhibition takes the opposite wager: that all artists have become concept artists and although the physical aspects of the work are deeply physical, the form itself has been removed and we have entered a post formless state. Tom Marioni defines Conceptual art as “idea oriented situations in any medium possible.” If this is true, then attitudes themselves could be argued to be the physical manifestation of an artist’s practice. So if the form is concept, and the attitude is the medium, these artists are able to look around the corner of the cube to gleam something new. What it is, is up to you.
The exhibition will open Saturday, July 18th and run through September 19th, at 30 Grant Street in downtown San Francisco.
